Syrah, ‘Santa Maria Valley – Bien Nacido Vyd’, Piedrasassi

100% Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah, a blend of X Block and Z Block (sashi, add in something here about these blocks). This wine on release is delicious, a little rustic and feral—some of the wonderful things we love most about syrah! (add in here about the appellation) savory finish, explosive fruit and a bit of meatiness on the nose. A good wine to have in the cellar, as it offers both great pleasure on release and wonderful potential for aging.

Review:
The 2015 Syrah Santa Maria Valley Bien Nacido Vineyard offers up a pretty bouquet of violets, rose petal, plum and grilled meat. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied and full of youthful energy, with a tight-knit core, fine-grained tannins and bright acids that carry through the sapid, tangy finish. Forget this in the cellar for a few years and then follow it for the next decade.

Review:
Piedrasassi's 2014 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard is silky, supple and super-expressive today. Varietal notes come through nicely, but today it is the wine's open-knit, forward character that is most appealing. Scents of Maine blueberry, spice, lavender and mint are infused throughout.
