"If this isn’t Italy’s best Pinot Grigio (called Pinot Gris here because the Valle d’Aosta, where this winery is located, located high in the Alps next to France is a rather French part of Italy) it’s certainly one of its four or five best. In fact, Lo Triolet’s portfolio of wines includes another classically dry and similarly marvelous Pinot Grigio that, differently from this one, is aged in oak (and hence its name, “Elevée en barrique”). Martin confirms his talent with the Pinot Grigio variety with his even more remarkable sweet wine called Mistigri, a very rare example of sweet Pinot Girgio wine (Italy doesn’t make this type of wine). Drinking window: now-2025."

"The Köfererhof 2018 Alto Adige Valle Isarco Sylvaner shows some extra plushness and softness in this vintage, with summer peach, lemon blossom, honey and cantaloupe melon. Whereas most of the white varieties in the Köfererhof portfolio present lifted and vertical aromas with many flinty mineral nuances, this Sylvaner offers a tad more opulence and fruity richness. That extra texture opens this wine to spicy exotic foods like Singapore chili crab."

"Very perfumed and quite intense pears and baked apples with some bright fragrance, too. The palate has a very smooth, supple texture and some bright, punchy pear and apple flavor. Smooth-honed and balanced. Drink now"

"Bright straw. Lemon ice, orange peel, balsamic oils and herbs on the complex nose and in the mouth. Savory but juicy, with a very clean, sneakily concentrated mouthfeel and lots of density on the long, juicy finish. Another knockout from this estate in 2018."
