Shiraz, 'Napoleone Vyd - Yarra Valley', Punt Road
The hand-picked shiraz fruit came from blocks 5 and 7 on our own Napoleone Vineyard, planted in 1991. Both these blocks are planted to the PT23 clone. The picks were kept separate in small fermenters. Ferments were quite warm, up to 33 degrees, with a high proportin of whole bunches. Widespread foot stomping occurred. The wine was pressed into large barrels where it matured on lees for 10 months prior to a light filtration and bottling.
