Sauvignon Alto Adige, Wassererhof
100% Sauvignon from a west-facing hill in the lower Isarco Valley at 450 meters above sea level. After a soft pressing and short maceration, the wine is fermented in 80% stainless steel and 20% tonneaux. It remains on the lees for a short time before bottling.
Press & Reviews
There’s a richness to the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc that tempts the imagination, mixing grassy herbs with intense lemony citrus, but with a note of brown spice mixed with moist floral undergrowth that keeps me coming back to the glass. Its oily textures coat all that they touch in ripe fruit, yet they are quickly firmed up by strict acidity and salty minerals, creating a cheek-puckering tension. Nearly a minute later, I can still feel an aching sensation from its saline savoriness toward the back of the palate. This is a gorgeous expression of Sauvignon Blanc, and I believe the best is yet to come.
