Rosso di Montalcino, Castello Tricerchi

Rosso di Montalcino, Castello Tricerchi

100% Sangiovese from 12-year-old vineyards located at 300 meters above sea level. The vines are planted to soils dense in clay and sand and have a southwest exposure. Harvest took place at the end of September, with maceration and fermentation occurring over 10 days in stainless steel. Wine is then aged in 15-20 hectoliter Slavonian oak casks for 18 months prior to bottling.

Review:
This rather full and fleshy, Tuscan red has plenty of ripeness for the vintage with hints of soy sauce and cloves. Healthy, dry tannins and fresh acidity help this to balance nicely. With more fruit it would higher. Drink now.
