Review:
The 2016 Rosso Conero Sassi Neri Riserva is earthy and intense, slowly opening to reveal an alluring bouquet of tobacco, ashy soils, wild herbs, black olive and tart dried cherry. On the palate, velvety textures coast effortlessly, with polished dark fruits, countered by hints of black pepper, while maintaining a fresh and lively personality, as fine tannins slowly mount toward the close. It finishes long, structured, and savory to the core, with salty minerals and residual acids slowly tapering off. Although you can pick up on the wood cooperage at this time, I believe a few years of cellaring will reveal something more.
