“This is the third Rosé I have made from Green Gate vineyard in Edna Valley.  I sought out this site for Rosé due to its volcanic soils.  It is all Pinot Noir clone 777 grown on serpentine and chirt, the precursor to slate.  My thinking with volcanic soils is to give the wine a mineral undertone to balance the abundance of fruit character we find in California.  The resulting wine illustrates this clearly.  I find the wine to be both edgy and rich.  Not only is the wine easy to drink like a Rosé should be, but it can age. I am a big fan of Cotat Rosés from the Loire, especially aged.  Though this isn’t a common practice in the States, I believe my wines can do the same.  I love the way it develops over the course drinking a bottle among friends. ” —Graham Tatomer
