Dautel's 2019 Bönnigheimer Riesling Gipskeuper already enters the freak district. It is pure and flinty on the reductive nose, displaying perfectly ripe and concentrated Riesling fruit intertwined with smoky aromas and very pure notes of crushed rocks. Lean and pure yet elegant and refined on the palate, this is an intellectual Riesling for Riesling nerds: very intense, tight and long yet bone dry, very mineral and salty. There are concentrated white stone fruit aromas on the aftertaste. Warning: This is not a wine for hedonists! Try it from a Burgundy glass! Tasted from AP 22 20 in June 2020. Drink 2020-2035.
