Petite Syrah ‘Napa Valley’, Turley

2016 is the inaugural vintage of Turley’s newest wine, the Napa Valley Petite Syrah. This wine is a combination of fruit from three certified organic Napa vineyards: Rattlesnake Ridge on Howell Mountain, which lends excellent structure and tannin; our Estate Petite Syrah in St. Helena, with its classic garrigue and dark fruits; and Casa Nuestra, adjacent to our St. Helena Estate, which adds the dark florals and older vine complexity. These prestigious vineyards together make for a wine truly expressive of both Napa Valley and the excellent, elegant, truly Californian (though rarely represented) grape we hold dear, Petite Syrah.

Aromas of violets, cracked pepper and rich dark fruit introduce the 2016 Petite Syrah Napa Valley, a full-bodied, richly structured wine with a succulent core of fruit and a long, pure finish. This keenly priced bottles will be sold by distribution, not to the mailing list.

Readers will want to make a note of the 2016 Petite Syrah (Napa Valley), which is a blend of fruit from Rattlesnake Ridge, Turley Estate and Casa Nuestra. Inky and voluptuous, the 2016 is wonderfully open-knit and totally seductive. Creme de cassis, lavender, licorice and plum shape the unctuous, silky finish. Best of all the 2016 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Pricing is expected to be in the $30/bottle range. Don't miss it.
