"The red 2017 Venus de La Figuera was produced with Garnacha from a vineyard on limestone-rich soils at 600 meters in altitude in the village of La Figuera. It has the fragrance of the Garnacha from the village in a warm Mediterranean vintage when the wine achieved 15% alcohol. It fermented with some whole clusters and indigenous yeast and matured in a 2,500-liter oak foudre for 18 months. This is aromatic, expressive and open, ripe and concentrated, but with amazing freshness and doesn't show the heat of the vintage at all. The palate is medium to full-bodied, and the tannins are very fine and elegant. This feels like a red from a cool vintage with the tasty sensation from the limestone soils. Here the soils are very white and shallow. 2,904 bottles and 204 magnums were filled in July 2019."

"The phenomenal 2016 Venus de La Figuera has the sharpness of the limestone soils and the acidity of the year. They got the full crop from the vineyard and produced 3,000 bottles, which is lucky, as there is more quality and quantity. This is tight and austere, more serious than the previous two years (and they tell me it really takes off in 2017, so I look forward to tasting it!). I found crunchy Garnacha with citrus freshness. Amazing Garnacha from La Figuera."
