"From white calcareous marls, the 2020 Kostheim Weiss Erd GG VDP. Grosse Lage opens with a clear, bright, fresh and substantial bouquet of weathered limestone and ripe, white (seed) fruit aromas. Fun-bodied yet vital and fresh, this is a textured, round and lush but vital and tensioned dry Riesling with grip and a clear, dry and stimulating finish. In warm years such as 2020, the Weiss Erd is one of Künstler's most exciting yet (still) underrated Rieslings only because he is the only top producer on this cru. The finish (of the 2020) is truly energetic and intense! I hope to one day re-taste the 2018, which I remember I found less exciting. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted in June 2022."
