Islay Single Malt Whisky, '100% Islay' 8th Edition, Kilchoman Distillery
Kilchoman Distillery was founded in 2005 and is the first distillery to be built on Islay for over 120 years. Kilchoman displays all that is great about the grass-roots traditions of Scotch whisky distilling. As well as being one of only a handful of distilleries still practicing floor malting, barley is also grown on the farm, making Kilchoman the only distillery to employ all parts of the whisky making process on site. Kilchoman truly is Islay’s farm distillery—from barley to bottling.
Spirit Sub Type:
All aspects of the production process for the 100% Islay have taken place at the distillery; from barley to bottle, everything is grown, malted, distilled, matured, and bottled on site, creating a truly unique character. Kilchoman is proud to be the only Islay distillery producing single malt both grown and malted on Islay. Bottled at 50% ABV and peated at a lower lever than the distillery’s other releases, 100% Islay has a light and fresh character. Citrus and lemon notes come through with soft peat smoke and a long, smooth finish. First launched in 2010, a new edition of 100% Islay has been released every year since. This, the 8th Edition of the 100% Islay range, is a vatting of 23 bourbon barrels and 7 Oloroso sherry butts filled between 2008 and 2012.
