L. Hiedler Ried Thal Kamptal DAC Grüner Veltliner

Thal is the site of some of the Hiedler family’s first vineyards, which they have been cultivating since 1856. Thal is gently sloping  terraced vineyard in the southern portion of the Langenlois where the soil is a sandy and chalky loess. Fermented and raised entirely in stainless steel with extended contact on the fine lees, and partial malolactic fermentation.

Review:
Something wonderfully creamy and green plays on the nose, showing balm-like freshness of lemon and green pear. The palate is equally creamy but has a concentrated, pervasive, slightly pithy freshness that tingles on the tongue. This is rounded but slender, creamy but bright, smooth but aromatic.

Review:
A layered white with dried-apple, pear and flint character. Intense and focused. Solid and structured. Flinty. Drink now. Screw cap.
