Hirsch 'Hirschvergnügen' Grüner Veltliner
Grape: Grüner Veltliner
Vineyard: Sourced from multiple sites in the Kamptal
Soil: Calcareous and loamy, derived from the underlying loess
Fermentation & Elevage: Whole bunch pressing. Long, slow fermentation in stainless steel until the following spring.
Farming: Practicing bio-dynamic. The estate is certified bio-dynamic, but there are some grapes sourced for this wine that are from vineyards still in bio-dynamic conversion.
As the name suggests, the Hirschvergnugen (vergnunugen, which translates to pleasure) is an easy drinking style of Grüner Veltliner produced from vines that grow on loess soils. Despite its nimble body, it impresses with its depth, juicy fruit and white pepper spice.
