Tasting Notes

This comes from (mainly) three different Erste Lage vineyards in Langenlois – Kaeferberg, Schenkenbichel and Spiegel. The vines are 40+ years old and a portion of this wine is aged in acacia wood cask, one of two wines made in this manner at this estate. Whole cluster, sedimentation by gravity and then racked into barrels (acacia and oak) and part in steel for fermentation and then racked into large oak casks for over 2 years for maturation. The 2015 Alte Reben is much more base note and has a lot of density at the moment, very packed. It’s got a classical spicy component and the body is very wide and textured.
