Dolcetto d’Alba ‘Bricco dell’Oriolo’, Azelia
For proprietor Luigi Scavino, the Bricco dell’Oriolo represents a maternal bond. His mother owned a small vineyard in front of the church of the Madonna dell’Oriolo. Facing due south at 600 meters above sea level, it was the kind of real estate generally reserved for Nebbiolo. Luigi’s father Lorenzo owned vines nearby, also at 600 meters. By blending the two sites, Scavino pays homage to his family tree while crafting a stunning Dolcetto from 60+ year old vines.
The wine is macerated for 7 days in rotary fermenters before being aged in stainless steel. About 14,000 bottles are produced each year.
