THE HISTORICAL WINE OF THE CHATEAU FORTIA ESTATE
The blend dominated by Grenache has remained practically unchanged since its creation and it boasts all the treasures and mythical taste of a great Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine. Conceived, cherished and produced by the founding father, Baron le Roy de Boiseaumarié, it delights the lovers of the appellation.
WINEMAKING METHOD
Harvested entirely by hand with sorting on the plot, the bunches are delicately picked and then transported in crates in order to ensure the perfect condition of all the grapes and to avoid any oxidation.
Destemmed to the tune of 90%, the grapes are then transferred to concrete or stainless steel vats. Fermentation and 4 to 5 weeks of maceration make it possible to extract all the colour and aromas from the grapes. Cask-ageing of between 18 to 24 months allows the wine to gently flourish. It is then bottled and left to rest in the ageing cellars.
THE VINTAGE
In 2019, the climate was very dry and hot during the growing season. As a result, the harvest began very early with grapes showing excellent health, thick skins and intense colors. The red wines show aromas of ripe fruit, raspberries with a slight touch of mint and present a beautiful minerality. On the palate, the tannins are elegant and well concentrated. This vintage shows signs of a long aging potential.
TASTING NOTES
Medium ruby red color with bluish reflections. Open and pleasant nose of fresh red fruit jam (raspberry and redcurrant) and notes of sweet liquorice. Delicately spicy. The palate is full-bodied and generous, with fat and then tension. Nice volume of midpalate. The tannins are dense and fine, chiseled, and carry the wine on the finish. You’ll find the same aromatic register of the nose. A tasty and elegant wine.
