Cabernet Sauvignon, ‘Napa Valley’, Accendo
Many of the iconic Cabernet Sauvignons dating from the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s were sourced from multiple, exceptional vineyard sites throughout Napa Valley.
Brilliant in their youth, the best of these wines are still vibrant and pure fifty and more years later.
Accendo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon is modeled after this ideal: an uber blend utilizing impeccable fruit from superior vineyard sites, fashioned in a winemaking style that emphasizes elegance, balance, freshness and finesse. Accessible at a young age, yet with the concentration and complexity required for extended cellaring, Accendo Cabernet Sauvignon is a quintessential expression of Napa Valley terroir.
Fermented individually in small tanks
Aged 23 months in 100% new French oak barrels
On the nose, this wine is intense, vibrant and lively, showing intriguing notes of earth, cedar, tobacco leaf and smoky black tea. In the mouth, the wine is fresh, poised and precise, with layers of dark fruits and silky tannins that perfectly support its sweet core. Notes winemaker Francoise Peschon, “What strikes me most about this wine is how earth driven it is – wet clay, loam, scorched earth, enlivened by floral notes and hints of savory spices. The texture is sublime, with super-refined tannins at the entry, following through the mid palate with a power that builds slowly and evenly to a persistent mineral finish. It is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon.”

A wine of precision, nuance and tension, Accendo's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon continues to grow in bottle. There is a sense of translucent vibrancy in the 2014 that is especially admirable. Red and purplish-toned fruit, lavender, mint and crushed rocks are all beautifully delineated, but it is the wine's shape and drive that I find most alluring today. This is a fabulous showing.
