Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Le Potazzine [wood]
“Le Potazzine does not make a Brunello Riserva all that often, but when it does, you are virtually guaranteed to find something memorable in the bottle.”–Ian d’Agata, Vinous
In 25 years of making wine, Le Potazzine has only made a Riserva Brunello four times: 2004, 2006, 2011 and 2015! In the 2011 vintage, this is a selection of 100% Sangiovese from the ‘Le Prata’ vineyard near Montalcino with a southeastern exposure at 500 meters above sea level. Fermentation and maceration with indigenous yeasts lasts 30 days. The wine then matures for 60 months in large oak cask before finishing in the bottle for 12 months before release.
