Bourbon #23, 107.78 Proof, Barrell Craft Spirits

The idea behind Barrell Craft Spirits is to “explore the unique effects of different distillation methods, barrels, and aging environments, and bottle them at cask strength.” This is accomplished through outstanding relationships within the tightly-knit whiskey community and sourcing the best whiskies available without compromise. By definition, the bottlings of Barrell Spirits are limited in nature with new releases hitting the market frequently. Barrels are sourced from around the country (and the world) & shipped to Barrell’s facilities in Kentucky for additional aging and bottling.

Tasting Notes

Barrell Bourbon Batch #23 is a blend of 10, 12, and 15-year-old barrels, distilled and aged in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana, and combined with a focus on how to balance the richness and depth from the older whiskies. The blend mingled for a couple of months to heighten its lushness and complexity before the 15-year-old barrels were meticulously blended in to create notes of tropical fruit and angelica spice. The result is an ever-evolving bourbon with an initial flavor of cinnamon donuts that leads into earthy notes of walnut, leather, and fallen leaves with hints of white currant and honeydew melon. 53.89% ABV
