Press & Reviews
Berry, mushroom, bark and some black tea on the nose. It’s full-bodied with round, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. The tannins are fine-grained at the same time. Try after 2023.
The 2016 Barolo Cerretta shows all of the beguiling aromatic complexity that makes the wines of Serralunga so distinctive. Grilled herbs, melted road tar, licorice, incense, wild black cherry, menthol and pine all infuse the Cerretta with striking layers of nuance. Powerful and muscular in feel, with terrific persistence, the Cerretta has a bright future - once the tannins start to soften.
Revello is best known for its range of wines from La Morra, but from 2013 it has also made a single-vineyard bottling from the large Cerretta site in Serralunga. It is aged in barriques as well as casks, and the oak gives a distinct toastiness to the nose, which is infused with cherry and raspberry fruit. An imposing wine with power and density, it displays good depth of fruit and is solid without being heavy-handed. The texture is sumptuous, and ample spice perks up the long finish.
