Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'San Michele'

Barbera dAlba Superiore San Michele Malvir
  • 100% Barbera from Malvirà’s San Michele vineyard just outside of Canale
  • The name San Michele comes from a small chapel at the top of the vineyard
  • The soils are dominated by calcareous clay
  • Up to and including the 2007 vintage, these wines were made from 90 year old vines
  • Fermentation-maceration took place over six weeks in stainless steel
  • The wine was then moved to 450L French oak casks (only 10% new) for 36 months
