8yr Scotch Whisky, Isle of Skye

8yr Scotch Whisky, Isle of Skye

The Isle of Skye is the northernmost and largest island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The brand of the same name produces sweet, malty, salty, rich, and smoke-kissed drams composed of the single malt whisky of world-renowned Talisker blended with whisky of Speyside, creating approachable but exceptionally structured whiskies.

Tasting Notes

Isle of Skye is a 50/50 vatting of single malt whisky distilled at Talisker—the oldest distillery on the Isle of Skye and the only legally operating distillery on the island up until 2017—and grain whisky from Speyside; this is a much larger proportion of single malt than what is found in most blended Scotches. These spirits—both of exceptional character—are combined and rested in oak for an additional 6 months prior to bottling. This marriage results in an 8-year-old whisky with light peat and notes of barley and crème anglaise on the nose. The dram then exhibits nutty, spicy, fruitcake on the palate with a touch of sherry. Enjoyable on its own, Isle of Skye is also a versatile cocktail component. 43% ABV
