Clande celebrates the art and tradition of craft spirits. Clandestine distilleries used to be found in Northern Mexico and were known as “Vinatas.” These facilities were used to produced Sotol and Lechuguilla, distillates made from the Dasylirion and Agave plant respectively. Vinatas were prohibited in the early 1900’s and “Maestros Sotoleros” were persecuted and sometimes incarcerated.
This line encompasses sotol from different regions, endeavoring to highlight the impact of terroir on this beautiful spirit. Clande’s collective approach seeks to support small, local producers and improve their standards of living, as well as assuring the future of the dasylirion plant.
