Chateau La Coste
Chateau La Coste is a classic property located in the heart of the high-altitude region of Coteaux d’Aix en Provence. The estate was purchased in 2002 by Irish businessman Paddy McKillen, who resurrected the domaine by investing heavily to update the winery and the farming. Since taking over the property, the farming has been completely converted to biodynamics and was certified organic by Ecocert. Since that time, he has raised the quality of wines to the point where they are now considered one of the best in the appellation. Along with producing world-class wine, the grounds of the domaine are also home to countless masterpieces from artists such as Ai Weiwei, Alexander Calder, Frank Gehry, Louise Bourgeois, Tadao Ando, Damien Hirst, and many others. Mr. McKillen is an avid patron of the arts and commissions pieces for the estate from artists all over the world, many of whom are his personal friends. The artistry found in the wines is just as impressive, as the domaine makes rosés that are delicate, bright, and full of energy and minerality.
