Altolandon

The 120-hectare organically-cultivated finca of Altolandón sits at the high, dry altitude of 1100 meters in the appellation of Manchuela, where the Mediterranean coastal ranges of Valencia begin to settle into Spain’s vast central plateau. The estate’s philosophy is ‘el vino lo hacemos en la uva’: quality wine from quality grapes– not such a tall order when the bodega sits right amidst the pesticide-free vineyards. The poor, rocky soils and brisk, high-altitude climate conspire to produce fully ripe yet high-acid and high-tannin Bobal and Garnacha grapes, leading to wines of eye-popping color and electric fruit and texture.
