Tasting Notes

This straight rye whiskey was distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Created to reflect the historic house style of Hughes Bros. Distilling, this rye was aged for nine years in char #4 barrels, proofed with Allegheny Mountain spring water from the original Hughes family estate in Bedford County, PA, and bottled without chill filtration. Aromas of Golden Delicious apple crisp and clover honey mingle with celery root, lemon zest, and faint notes of tropical fruit on the nose. A compelling back and forth of dried sweet and savory elements—mango, bay leaf, and hay—on the palate culminates in a spiky finish of fresh curry leaf and Sichuan peppercorn. Non-chill filtered and bottled at 52% ABV.
