“2014 was the continuation of both abundance and dry conditions in Santa Barbara County, bringing the dark fruit elements to the forefront, whilst restraining the tannins so often associated with this clone. In my long-held dream of making something akin to the Fonsalette from Chateau Rayas, I am honoured to offer this blend for the third graceful vintage.

This Grenache represents two vastly different microclimates within Santa Barbara County: the Highlands with her 3200 feet elevation extremity and wide open skies ~ and a new vineyard for us: the Vie Caprice vineyard with 5 x 4 spacing amidst Santa Ynez horse country… An interesting juxtaposition of the same clone, treated the same way: 100% de-stemmed, 17 months in neutral barrel, married together in January 2016. The Highlands’ rosewater tones still carry the aromatics, whilst the Vie Caprice anise and fennel notes structure the pallet with sass.” — Angela Osborne
